Rhodochrosite Albite Aegirine MSH -001

Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral with chemical composition MnCO3. It is common at Mont Saint Hilaire.  It forms a complete solid solution series with iron carbonate (Siderite). Rhodochrosite occurs as a hydrothermal vein mineral along with other manganese minerals in low temperature deposits. At MSH it is found in pegmatites, color ranging from very dark red, red, pink and often coated with layer of gray to pale olive green Siderite.. It crystallizes in the trigonal system, and cleaves with rhombohedral carbonate cleavage in three directions. Crystal twinning often is present
