NEW! Calcite Pink Dolomite from Marcil Quarry -010

Calcite is a calcium carbonate (CaCO3) the most stable polymorphs are aragonite and vaterite. It has a Mohs hardness of 3, a specific gravity of 2.71. Crystals are trigonal-rhombohedral but rombohedra are uncommon form. In places like Mont Saint Hilaire it mimics just about every mineral species in the quarry.

Fine example of Calcite Dolomite crystals with pink Dolomite matrix. This specimen is different from all others collected that day, First generation Calcite crystals are overgrown with another layer of small sparkling crystals.
From ST. Clothilde near Chateuguay, Quebec, Canada. I collected this specimen on the 13th of October 2013.
